More than 16,000 children in the U.S. and U.K. auditioned for the role of Harry Potter.
Harry potter was one of the most famous fantasy novels ever to hit the shelves, written by a British novelist J.K Rowling. The novel was an instant success and observing the fame of the novel Warner.Bros bought the rights of the novel for 1 million$. The next big job was to cast a kid who can perform this magical role of a young wizard perfectly. The author makes it clear that the child who will perform this role should be a British. Susie Figgis was appointed as casting director, working with both Columbus and Rowling and they work tirelessly to ferret out the person who resembles the character of Harry potter.
Almost 16000 children auditioned in front of the casters and at last they got the true Harry Potter in the form of Daniel Redcliffe who was virtually unknown at that time. Columbus after watching Daniel claims, “This is what I want. This is Harry Potter.” The author of novel J.K Rowling says ”I don’t think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry.” It was a blessing to Daniel and he never looked back since. Portraying this superhit character Daniel becomes the richest youngster in England with an estimated wealth of £28.5 million in 2010 making him richer than Prince William and Prince harry. At the time Daniel got this role he was only 12 years old with no prominent role under his belt but 10 years later he got 7 megahit movies and no one can think of portraying Harry Potter other than Daniel.
