2% of Earth's people have red hair

Red heads have it tough. They’re often referred to as “gingers” and let’s not even get started on their fair skin and tendency toward sunburn. Of course, their hair and freckles also makes them look exotic.
People with red hair are very much in the minority in the human population. They only make up 2% of the population. This percentage spikes to 12% in Ireland. Despite their small numbers, there have been many famous red heads throughout history.
These have included Columbus, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander the Great, and Isabella of Spain.
